Pharmaceutical Sciences (MS) - Health & Pharm Outcome - Non Thesis
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that healthcare occupations in general are “projected to grow 14% from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations, adding about 1.9 million new jobs. The new M.S. non-thesis runs alongside the current thesis M.S.and a complementary course of study for students looking for career changes, those in current HPO-adjacent careers who are looking to further their credentials and knowledge, and those exploring future academic options in the health sciences. The non thesis degree differs from the current MS – thesis degree in requiring more electives and no thesis or research units. Students who are not interested in fulfilling a thesis should apply directly to the non-thesis option for Heath and Pharmaceutical Outcomes.Therefore, the non-thesis MA will not be compatible to the PhD program as the MS thesis meets the requirement for admission to the PhD program .
The goal of the MS program is to provide the student with the essential skills and abilities to assume managerial and leadership positions related to the economic analysis, outcomes of pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical services and health care in health care organizations, government agencies, pharmaceutical companies, and academic institutions. Students will receive an MS degree in pharmaceutical sciences emphasis in health and pharmaceutical outcomes. Many MS graduates pursue pharmaceutical industry or managed care careers, which involve activities such as working as the project development, design, and management level, assisting in product development and marketing. The average time to graduate is less than 3 years.
The College of Pharmacy offers a graduate program leading to a Doctor of Philosophy and/or a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Over twenty faculty participate in the program.
