Discover how the immersion into another culture can help you navigate an increasingly connected world. The Bachelor of Arts in French offers two emphases. The French and Francophone focus suits students with wide-ranging interests in French and Francophone studies to complete a French major without taking all courses in French. After completing the core requirements in French language, students take courses in the major that are taught in English. Students benefit from a diverse program, with coursework in language, literature and culture. There are also opportunities to study abroad in Paris, which is one of the oldest and most established study abroad programs at the University of Arizona.
Learning Outcomes
Communication; Communicate in French, both orally and in writing, by engaging in interpersonal, interpretative, and presentational communication activities. Culture; Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of other culture(s) in an essay on a cultural topic. Comparisons; Develop insights into the nature of languages by analyzing and discussing the relationship between good writing and good thinking as well as showcasing these qualities in one¿s work. Connections; Develop critical thinking by making connections and engaging creatively in problem ¿solving activities leading to the completion of a research project. Communities; Engage in multilingual communities at home and around the world by applying classroom learning to real world situations
