Transform your love of the Italian language into cross-cultural, multilingual expertise in an essential skill in our increasingly global economy. The Bachelor of Arts major in Italian with a Language and Literature emphasis offers an interdisciplinary approach that focuses on the study of the Italian language. In this program one of the largest Italian programs in the country students acquire a high level of proficiency in reading, writing and speaking Italian. In addition to the study of language, coursework covers the literary and artistic aspects of Italian culture and their contributions to the world; milestones and major events in Italian history; and modern Italian culture, current events and politics. Classroom learning is enhanced by study abroad opportunities in Italy every semester, including summer.
